Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Plan F)

The most popular Medigap plan on the market today is the Plan F Medicare Supplement.  This supplemental insurance is probably the most widely chosen plan because it picks ups all the gaps in Original Medicare.  This does not mean it covers glasses, dentures or things that Medicare does not cover, but it does mean that if Medicare approves the service this plan is right there to pick up the remaining costs.

A Plan F has the same exact product design with every carrier.  The only difference is the price and the financial stability of the carrier.

What does a Plan F cover?

  1. Basic Benefits
    • Part B Co-Insurance (Generally 20% of outpatient expenses)
    • Hospital Co-Insurance
    • 365 Additional Days Hospitalization Coverage
    • Blood Deductible Coverage
  2. Skilled Nursing Co-insurance
  3. Part A Deductible
  4. Part B Deductible
  5. Part B Excess
  6. Foreign Travel

As you can see the Medicare Supplemental Plan F coverage is very comprehensive.  I had it once described as buying a wrist bracelet at the fair and getting to ride all the rides for just a monthly premium.  In other words after you pay your premium, your Medicare expenses should be covered 100% unless something is not approved by Medicare.
